Q: Why does the collection management not support variant artwork, foreign language cards, card quality etc.?

Q: Why does the collection management not support variant artwork, foreign language cards, card quality etc.?

A: The underlying philosophy behind collections management in Decked Builder is to support deck building and help answer the burning question -- what card do I need to get to complete my deck? It was not made into a general purpose collection manager due to the following key reasons:
  • Collection information on all variant artwork, foreign language cards etc. for the entire Magic card universe is a HARD problem
  • Our pricing providers generally only provide pricing information for English cards
  • To avoid over complicating the collections input process for users who mainly build decks. All they need to key in is the number of a particular card they have. The system can then help to answer what cards they are missing to build a particular deck.
Having said that, we might decide roll out a full fledged collections manager some day with support for all of the above. We would be particularly interested in hearing about what problem you are trying to solve by wanting to record all the nitty-gritty details of your collection. Do write to us about it!
